@deuterium - yeah - mp3's don't work for me either with this, despite assertions elsewhere that gnlcomposition handles them.

My brief attempt at inserting decodebin into the pipeline didn't help. More info on debugging silent pipelines would be most helpful.

It worked for me to use plain old filesrc and decodebin as described here: http://www.jonobacon.org/?p=810

Thanks for this. It's good to finally find a technical blog which I can understand. How some people think us newbies can learn without clear explanation is beyond me.

Cheers

Once again, thanks for taking the time to document this so thoroughly. Your writing has been helping me out a lot. A question I have about gstreamer and gnonlin is: Is it possible to play more than one file at once? This is a key piece of functionality that I need for a program I am writing. Also some stereo panning would be nice. Does anyone know if these functions exist in the gstreamer project? Thanks.

Hi ,
As I need to edit a 3gp file, i want to ask the following

my file is in 3gp format containing both audio(amr) and video(h263) , how can i cut down the first 5 seconds and save it in another file

Something like that?
gnlcomposition ( gnlfilesource ) ! filesink

or
ffmux3gp name=mux ! filesink
gnlcomposition ( gnlfilesource ) ! qtdemux name=demux
demux.audio00 ! queue ! mux.audio0
demux.video00 ! queue ! mux.video_0

Thanks for this information. I have been experiencing warning problems with Gnonlin. I guess I have it installed wrongly. I’ll re-start everything and will follow your suggestion here.

For some reason, example 2 doesn't work. It runs and doesn't display errors, but doesn't play 2 mp3's. It just plays audio 1. Also, it doesn't start at the 5th second of the mp3 and doesn't stop playing after 5 seconds. Weird!

It might be my amd 64system.. (since the ebuild in gentoo is masked for 64bit.) But i can't find any info about that. I hope someone can enlighten me.

Oh, did I remember to say that this tutorial was the single most important piece of information for my own experiments with GStreamer and Gnonlin. Thank you for writing it.
Hopefully you'll get time for writing some more great tutorials and articles about Jokosher, GStreamer and Gnonlin. I could write some basic ones now, that I've hit some obstacles and managed to get around them...
