New Talk, Done

I just finished putting the final touches to my new presentation Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants: The Coming Of The Linux Desktop – which I will be delivering for the first time as the opening keynote for SCALE. I am pretty pleased with it so far, and will make final changes (mostly cosmetic) over the next few days as I rehearse it. I am looking forward to SCALE, and fly there on Thursday – if you are going, let me know and we can meet up.

I find that writing presentations is like writing music – I have a broad idea of what I want to do, and then I enter into a period of writing chunks of the story, re-arranging, refining, throwing things away, and everything pretty much lines up at the end. It is a time consuming, but satisfying process, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and we will see how well it goes down on Saturday. :)

Are SCALE talks streamed/recorded? I’d like to hear this…

  • jono

mrben – not sure – but I am probably going to be recording the audio, and I might dig up raccoonshow and see if I can put it online.

I loved hearding cats and how to influence people. If I got the gist in the title, this new talk should raise some awareness…

Looking forward to hearing it or seeing it.

    Best of luck @ SCALE.

Hey Jono, all of us here from Ubuntu California are looking forward to seeing your keynote.

Be sure to stop by our booth!

I know this is off topic and I apologise in advance but what the hell ever happened to jokosher. It was on one of my top five projects to keep an eye on and now it looks like its slowly dying. I thought that by now there would be a thread on ubuntu forums about using it as the default sound recorder in ubuntu but alas it has not been recieving any love. Any updates on progress or even some info on the main site letting people know, (a) No time to work on it anymore (b) things moving slowly but work being done or (c)Help needed.

It ight sound insane to think that jokosher could be the default sound recording app in ubuntu but if it had gone past the stable 1.0 release then maybe a mini mode could be developed alowing you to record simple things and more advanced things at your hearts content. Jokosher is one of those great projects that catches peoples eyes.. Please show it some love.
