So LugRadio has come to an end... and along with many others I'm gutted. But I thought you might be interested by my story. I came across from windows to Linux about the time Fedora Core 2 was released. Except I didn’t know any better and was struggling away with Red Hat 8. Eventually I converted to the Ubuntu way after using FC3 and 4.

However, my conversion was never really complete. I wasn’t really that interested in Linux or open source philosophies; I just wanted a better OS than Windows. About the time I got into LugRadio in the beginning of season 2, mostly through listening to your show I started to get what Open Source Vs Proprietory software was all about, and why it matters.

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I’m now a Mac user of about 1.5 years, and whilst I’d love to use Linux as my main OS I find many problems with usability, hardware issues, and that the Linux desktop is very much a desktop for someone who loves tinkering – this doesn’t suit me! I like to have stuff that just works, and am prepared to sacrifice my freedoms to be able to achieve it.

But all through this conversion away from Linux, I have continued to listen to the dynamic quadro almost religiously. I’ve found your shows entertaining and informative regarding the latest news in open source, and I for one would love to know if there is anything I can say to change your minds. Probably not but worth a try!? I listen to about 15 podcasts a week and yours was by far the most important and definitely my favourite.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I'm willing to put money on it that this won't be the last evar LRL :)

I wish I could be there though. Last year I said I'll go next year, and now I'm tied up in work and it seems that there won't be a next year again :(

Moral of the story: live for the moment and do things now if you can in any way find a way to do it.
