At least Canonical IS donating, and still there will be some (like you) who instead of giving due credit will say its not enough.

I think its a fantastic idea and am glad that Canonical supported it.

Canonical donates to many different projects and obviously funds a raft of Ubuntu engineers and provides support for LoCo teams and other projects. I feel that to suggest Canonical was a bit tight in sponsoring $3000, particularly as Canonical is a start-up, is maybe a little mean.

If I read you correctly, Canonical can only afford $3,000, of course getting the community chipping in will help.

But I can't help but feel like this is just a very tentative toe of support for Creative Commons. I mean surely Canonical looses more than that down the back of the couch.
