New Lernid Release: Please Test

Just a quickie. John. S. Gruber (I assume the S stands for superstar), has just kicked out a new Lernid release, version 0.8.1. John is powering his way through the bug list and getting Lernid ship-shape ready for the six months of awesome coming up in the Ubuntu world.

This screenshot doesn’t always drink beer, but when it does, it prefers Dos Equis.

Please go and download the new release from the PPA. It is available for Maverick, Natty, and Oneiric.

To install, just do this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lernid-devs/lernid-releases

Then do this:

sudo apt-get update

And then do this:

sudo apt-get install lernid

Later this week we are going to schedule an event to showcase the features in Lernid and ensure everything is working tip-top. You can file Lernid bugs right here.

alternative coloured rows on the schedule list would be easier to read

Jono, nice to see Lernid is up and kicking. I think Lernid could be much improved. So I have made some GUI drawings and reported 11 bugs (wishes) to produce some discussion about how to improve Lernid. Regards

I have reported a bug (wish) https://bugs.launchpad.net/lernid/+bug/793033 how to make GUI better, one of the suggestions was to use “Show past sessions” check-box and by default disable option to hide all history sessions, see GUI suggestion: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/73014810/event.png

Awesome, grofaty. And I was delighted to see your suggestion (and drawing) for the Lernid Question button. I’ve been struggling with how to improve on that.

Nice if the new version was available for Lucid, but apparently not.

Great work! I wish I would have noticed the call for testing! I can’t wait to take the updated Lernid for a spin!

Lernid really worked very well. I had some initial problems to see the slides, but with some help managed to find the solution – maybe you could consider making “All Ubuntu Classroom Sessions” the default, rather than only “Ubuntu App Developer Week”. I do like the platform. How will this work when at a time in the future there might be two training sessions running in parallel? But, all in all, very impressed. This has some great potential, especially when maybe audio could be added. Reminded me a bit on webex.
