Onwards and Upwards

Thanks to everyone who came to the Ubuntu UK Release Party last night. It was so wonderful to catch up with so many new and old friends. It was also wonderful to hear everyone’s generally positive feedback about the new release.

I am proud of Ubuntu 11.10 and what we as a community managed to accomplish. Of course, we have some challenges to solve as we head into the 12.04 cycle, we need to focus on quality more, support our diverse patchwork of community teams to be successful, and motive and energize our leaders. But there are also new opportunities at our feet as we strive to bring Ubuntu and Free Software to everyone and we continue to welcome a new generation of Ubuntu community members with each release.

I can’t think of a better community to work with to face our challenges and scale these opportunities. Here’s to 12.04… :-)

Please, move gnome-shell into main and support it in 12.04 LTS! This would be the BEST thing you ever made to Ubuntu.

ubuntu oneiric  is far better than natty but some bugs are there like incompitability between nautilus open terminal and ubuntu one . most  nautilus ext not working have to symlink from 2.0 to 3.0 folders but overall the usability is better  in 12.04 we don’t need any new features but the maturity of unity and tweak speed and performance .. and the overlay scrollbars to all applications

You need a patched nautilus-python plugin, afaict, there are lots of python plugins for nautilus that now don’t work. Fort’ there is a proposed patch to get it fixed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/nautilus-python/+bug/858925

Ubuntu 11.10 is a great release, but….you completely forgot to fix multiple monitors support in Unity. It is seriously broken :/  To me it looks like you are just avoiding this subject as it is broken since 11.04.
